Why store energy?

Think about when you use power at home? You’ll turn on the lights in the morning to get ready for work, make breakfast, shower, dry your hair—all energy-intensive processes. Most of us are not even home during the day (and even if we are, the sun provides most of the light during those hours). In the evening, there’s another peak hour for making dinner, cleaning the dishes, and watching TV, all with lights turned on in various rooms. Now consider when solar panels are the most effective: Solar panels use energy from the sun and turn it into electricity for your home. If we don’t have a way to store that energy, we create energy when we least need it and vice versa. You’d be wasting your clean solar energy while using grid-energy during your peak hours of use. That doesn’t sound good at all, does it?

Energy storage systems are the solution to this problem. When all the neighboring houses go dark during a scheduled power outage (or worse: an unscheduled one), you’ll be able to use your stored energy and go off-grid.
